The MGA - 'Safety Fast!'

The first full year of production for the MGA was 1956 at Abingdon, England. The two models introduced were the roadster (soft top) and coupe (hard top)., both with 1.5l engines. In 1959 a 1.6l model was also produced. Production ceased in 1962, giving way to the MGB.

Chuggaboom 573KKM

Named after the Ant Hill Mob's car from Penelope Pitstop, Chuggaboom is a 1959 MGA 1600 Mark I Coupe. It was built between 7th & 16th December 1959. Little of the early history is known, but it was resident in Romford, Essex during the 70s. It was then taken to Dublin, Ireland in 1973. At some point it came into the possession of Simon Robinson in Darlington, who restore and trade classic cars. It was bought form them in 2002.

Our MGA in the barn where we bought it.

Here you can see 573KKM in the barn before we bought it. You can see what looks like an MGB in the left of the photo. From the outside it looks in a reasonable condition! Have a look at the archive for more of the photos sent to us by the garages.
