2007 Events
 | November 2007 - At last it was nice to start
putting things back together again. The chassis welding was completed and
the suspension put back on converting to wire wheels at the same time.
Refitting everything into the chassis is underway. I now have a rolling
chassis again. The engine was finally dismantled and the next job is to
rebuild it and get it into the chassis again |
 | June 2007 - As promised and a s break from the chassis my son Sam has
started rebuilding the seats. |
 | March 2007 - The time has come to get really dirty
and strip the chassis of engine, gearbox and suspension revealing all sorts
of problems - just another day at the garage really. |
2006 Events
 | September 06 - The body and chassis are
finally seperated after a bit of trial and error. Note to file, next
time restore a roadster. |
 | May 06 - From January to May I sent up the
doors and catches and completed the wing installation and fairing to the
initial stages of preparing the body for final painting. Also completed my
first attempt at brazing aluminium around the tops edges of the door
skins. |
2005 Events
 | December - From June to December I spent a
lot of time on the passenger side wings. A success was made when I finally
managed to persuade a frozen front brake to release itself from the disc
with a heavy hammer and a piece of 2x4. Most of the period was spent on the
front and rear wings that both needed a lot of work as you will see from the
photos. |
 | January to June - Work continued at a slower pace
towards the end of 2004 thanks to a change of job. The main focus was on
completing the drivers side of the inner body work to a condition where it
could take the wings. Most of 2005 was spent on restoring the drivers sides
front and rear wings. This was a voyage into the unknown as a lot of the
wings original metalwork had gone together with any brackets/clips that
originally were used to connect the wings to the body inner mud
guards. Also my wings needed a lot of patching especially in those
areas around the headlamp, the rear lower parts of the rear wings and the
bottom edges of both. I am determined to keep as much of the original car as
possible which is why it has taken 6 months to complete the main repair work
on two wings. The only trouble is that I know have to spend 6 months on the
other two wings. Such is English classic car restoration. The rest of 2005
will include the fine detailed completion of the wings including finish
grinding, filling, sanding ready for priming. |
 | MG cars have stopped production. I have one the first saloon cars when
they restarted production 4 years ago. I will certainly keep it. One day it
may become a classic and a rarity. |
